Bennet, Brown, Booker, DeLauro, DelBene, Torres Statement on Republican Proposal To Reverse Child Tax Credit Expansion To Pay For Infrastructure

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), and Cory Booker (D-N.J.), alongside U.S. Representatives Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.), Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.), and Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.), released the following statement after reports that Republicans proposed reversing the Child Tax Credit expansion to pay for their infrastructure proposal:

“The expansion of the Child Tax Credit will provide a significant lifeline to the middle class and cut child poverty nearly in half. It is absolutely outrageous that our Republican colleagues have proposed raising taxes on American families – and doubling child poverty – by clawing back the CTC expansion to pay for an infrastructure bill.”
