Bipartisan, Bicameral Legislation Will Allow National Forests to Retain Fees Generated by Ski Areas to Support Local Recreation

Today, Colorado U.S. Senator Michael Bennet, chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry’s Subcommittee on Conservation, Climate, Forestry, and Natural Resources, testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources in support of the Ski Hill Resources for Economic Development (SHRED) Act.
U.S. Senators Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Jon Tester (D-Mont.), Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.), and Angus King (I-Maine) urged the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in a bipartisan letter, to follow the intent of Congress for provisions in the American Rescue Plan to support health providers, specifically $8.5 billion in funding for rural healthcare providers.
